Admire the unique beauty of Death Valley up close!
Get out of the cold and get on the bike as we ride through Death Valley
National Park on the Death Valley Scenic Byway.
Become intrigued and awed by the expansive desolation of Badwater. Look
up to the Black Mountains nearby; 250 feet above you is a simple white
sign with the words "Sea Level." Death Valley is the lowest
point in the Western Hemisphere, and Badwater is the lowest point in
the Death Valley area.
We will ride on Artist Drive one of the most fantastic rides in California.
We will see the Artist Palette up close. With limestone, hematite, and
other chemically altered volcanic ash in hues of pink, lavender, blue,
red and green, you'll be astounded by the close-up view of this "painted" desert.
The Ubehebe Crater system contains several volcanic craters, cinder
cones and ash hills, all relics from an explosive steam eruption about
2,000 years ago, when rising magma met an underground lake. Ubehebe
is by far the largest crater, 2,400 feet in diameter and 500 feet deep,
and presents a very colorful spectacle with variegated, buckled strata
around its sides and grey-black ash on the rim - especially pretty at
sunset or sunrise.
There are
some long climbs and some long descents, but the great
thing is that we have all day to enjoy each days ride.
Come see for yourself why riding in Death Valley is a
great way to start the season.
